Rondeau solitude / metal rose wooden thorn

...met on my way...

The works selected by Ralf Hoyer for this concert from the years 1989 to 2018 not only cover a larger period of time, but also open up a wide field aesthetically, in accordance with his maxim 'the meadow of music has many wonderful and strange plants, it is infinitely large and colourful and each one may blossom...'.

Thus, pieces by his two teachers Ruth Zechlin and Georg Katzer, with whom he was a master student at the Academy of Arts of the GDR in 1977-80 (Johannes Wallmann was a master student with Friedrich Goldmann at about the same time), can be found, as well as works by Rainer Rubbert and Martin Daske, who were among the first colleagues Ralf Hoyer met in the western part of Berlin after the fall of the Wall. It was also during this time that he began his strong cultural-political commitment in the now united city. In 1991 he was the founding chairman of the Initiative Neue Musik Berlin, and later active in the Berlin Society for New Music and the Berlin Composers' Association. In the following years, other colleagues crossed his path, such as Helmut Zapf, Max E. Keller, Johannes Hildebrandt and Thomas Gerwin, with whom he is still on friendly terms through many years of collaboration. Many more could be mentioned...
